Hey
y'all--
Tonight
was different and kind of the same for us. We had a smallish crowd.
That was different and good. A serious downpour reduced our worship
area by 1/3 because of roof leaks! We gave away a BUNCH of food.
That was the same and "good" as well! We need the space
that's taken up with storing it.
Please
pray for our church's core group. We are definitely experiencing
"culture fatigue"! Our streeties are wearing us out. We need
more grace. We need wisdom as we figure out how to best minister to this
significant part of our congregation. People are "slipping through
the cracks" in the other part of our congregation. We need to be
filled with the Holy Spirit for both.
Please
pray for Cheryl. This was her 1st visit and she promised to be back next
week. She took 4 bags of food with her when she left. She asked if
any of us had ever slept on the streets. I had to say "no".
So much for: "...all things to all men..."!
Please
pray for Joel. He showed up during the meal, enjoyed a monster bowl of
soup, packed his bag with give-away food, and then sat through an hour and a
half core group meeting. (My ADD kicked in after 15 minutes!) He
was genuinely drawn to the dull, mundane working of the church. I'm
praying that God was glorified in such a way that Joel was drawn into
relationship with God.
Please
pray for churchfreo's leaders who are going through the challenges of
"growing pains" and transition as churchfreo becomes less of
"my" church and more of their church.
Thanking
God for your faithfulness,
Chuck
