Dear Prayer Partners,
We hope each of you has had a great summer. We have a lot coming up, so we will be grateful for your prayers for:
1. Missionary team meetings, as our team plans for the year ahead at our church plant, and looks into potential new church plant sites.
2. Church team meetings, as our church plant looks to begin the new school year.
3. giving the Lord praise for the successful head surgery on a key church member.
4. Angelle starting French high school
Explanations:
3. One of our most unselfish and dedicated volunteer church workers was struck earlier this summer with a medical emergency. A delicate head operation successfully removed the problem. It was impressive to see the entire church rally in support with prayers, phone calls and care for her family. Sometimes a crisis brings out the best in a church. The unity, support and operation success are all reasons to thank our loving God.
4. French high school, Lycée ("lee-SAY") starts in 2nd (10th) grade (it's a bit confusing because last year was 3rd, and next year is first. It goes backward until the final year, the deadly "terminal" which sounds more like a disease). Students beginning high school must declare a concentration in science, literature or economy-sociale (something like political science). French high schools are known to be demanding, and students expect very little in the way of life outside of school. Angelle enters 2nd with a science concentration. Furthermore, we are not aware of any other Christian students in the school. Please pray for her spiritual growth, the need for Christian friends, as well as the ability to budget her time and energy. And pray for wisdom for her parents as we seek to guide her.
Trivia: What is the link between Mark 13: 1,2 and the Arc de Triomphe in Paris?
In Christ,
Jamie and Jacki
