Dear Prayer Partners,
Our God has listened to prayers and answered. More details in our printed newsletter, which should be out soon.
We would be very grateful for your prayers for April activities:
1. Thanking the Lord for the encouraging number of contacts from our Easter worship service.
2. Several mothers with children, whose lives are too busy (?) for worship.
3. The additional English students coming to Jamie's pre-class Bible study on Thursdays.
4. American hosts needed for French teenagers, Madison and Pauline.
Details:
1. More than just "C and Eers" (Christmas and Easter attendees), Easter brought out some of the curious and the searching as well. The church had quite a few new faces, and several whom we'd not seen for a while. Some were simply visiting Marseille and are members of churches in other cities. However, many were from South Marseille, and are spiritually needy. They heard very good and sound preaching, sincere worship and saw warm fellowship afterward - but until the Holy Spirit works on their hearts, it is all just "interesting." Please pray for changed hearts, and that these people would see their needs.
2. Related to the above, several mothers who have come to the church during periods of their lives seem so busy, that it is difficult to find time for worship. This is complicated by husbands who do not support their faith. This is a spiritual battle, and we ask that you pray for each of them to draw near to God and to lean on him for guidance in laying out their schedules.
3. The Bible study which came about by a miracle, continues to amaze us. Teammate, Stephanie Pike took an English student to see "Les Miserables" (the American version with whats-her-name in it). In the conversation afterwards were many connections to Biblical truths, and the upshot of it is that the student now comes to the study, curious to know more. Please pray that her heart would be open to the gospel of salvation by grace.
Another new addition is a student who often must travel for his work. When Jamie announced that a Bible study would be cancelled one Thursday because of another event, the man implored us to hold the study earlier in the day for that once, "I won't be out of town that week, and I don't want to miss the opportunity." We held it earlier in the day, and Monsieur M. was there, participating with enthusiasm. Although a recent addition to the group, he picks up on salvation by grace alone, more easily than the others. Pray that Monsieur M. will soon come to know Jesus as his Savior and his Lord. And praise the Lord for this group, now with eight students.
4. Madison ("Mad-ee-SUN") will be 15 this summer and she enters 10th grade this fall in Marseille. Rather than spend a summer in the U.S., Madison would like to attend an American high school by spending August, September and October in the U.S. Please pray for a host family for her end-of-summer-early-fall lodging, and for an American school which will allow her to attend for just those few months.
Pauline is (formerly of Marseille) from Paris. She will be 14 and a half this summer. She would like to find a host family for the month of July.
Please pray that both girls find American Christian host families with girls about the same age.
